Sunday morning dawned with beautiful sunshine – what a change!
We took our cups of tea out into the garden and Hippie was as usual overjoyed to be out there:-
And were her teddies left out? No way –
But a big sulk was approaching and as we packed our backs and cleared the little cottage Hippies mood became more and more morose.
There is never a good time to leave and never more than when you have a small sulky child to coerce into going home (in this case a LARGE sulky child). But we had to think about Max waiting for us at home, my partner had left him in the house the day before and I just knew he would be itching to go out!
We packed the car and said goodbye to our hosts, signed the guestbook and went for a last fuss of the ….
pigs, they are so friendly!!
The horse in the next stable had gotten used to us going for a fuss so we just couldn’t resist..
Then we were off. But, we both agree we will definitely be back these cottages are wonderful and the area around them has the best places in the Peak District to visit!
Hippie slept all the way home, went straight to bed, didn’t want her dinner later and sulked all evening. I think she left her soul in beautiful Derbyshire!! Bless her!
Awww .. she loved it there, didn’t she? I don’t expect you have a cow field to use as her personal playground, do you? LOL!
Sweet little piggies!
She did love it and thank goodness she is back to normal now – well almost….. we take her to a little used enclosed park which is just round the corner from our house and let her run her imaginary races there – since the weekend she insists on taking a teddy to run with – tossing it in the air every now and then!
LOL! How sweet!
The Princess never carries a toy (that’s what servants are for … ) but The Pirate does this if we’re away from the house for long. He’ll grab a yellow stuffie – yes, it has to be yellow – and run around like a mad thing greeting us, touring the rooms, and even taking it outside to join him in a celebratory pee!
Aren’t they funny?
Nope, Bert doesn’t do toys either. Jen and I did a greyhound calendar for greyhound welfare last year, and I took along a squeaky rabbit that Bert studiously ignored. Well, a very flash Irish racer, Express Comet, completely fell in love with it and wouldn’t leave without it (much to his trainer’s embarrassment). I hope he let him keep it!!
Kate, you’re so lucky to be able to let her off the lead. Bert runs away and is a SERIOUS danger to cats and small animals so it’s always the lead for him 🙁
Ah poor Bert – its such a shame isn’t it and they do so love a run! Maybe its because Hippie never raced and also because she is terrified of Max now but the other day when I was on the local enclosed park with her a cat wandered across the grass. Her initial reaction was to chase and I had to give her the ‘ah ah’ warning. she gave it a second look and walked off in the other direction.
Wow, impressive! Bert’s a nightmare. I had to remove him from a hedgehog that he’d dragged out of the hedge the other night. Luckily the poor thing was well able to stick up for itself! But he tried to hard to pick it up he made himself sick. Stupid bloody dog!
That holiday place looks fab. Glad you had a good time xx
Bless him!! He’s a lovely boy – yes it was a lovely place and moreso because Hips enjoyed it so much – we have to do it again!!!
