I have been tagged by Jay over at the Deppeffect to write about seven weird facts about me – only seven – well, here goes:
1) I can’t plan for anything – I wasn’t always like it – years ago I’d got Christmas in the bag by October – but when my husband left I think I lost it, touble is it never came back. Oh I have tried but every time something stops it and it reverts back to only doing one day at a time – my son’s cancer, my partner’s stroke – even a planned walk on holiday once – I woke up on the morning and I could not put my foot to the floor – ended up at the hospital and on crutches. It lasted for two years. So no I’ll stick to one day – it irritates the hell out of people but its better than letting them down.
2) I am an original Hippy – my house is lit with pretty lights and candles, peace and love signs hang from the walls and even my car has flowers on it. It was the time of my life that I loved and I am happy that those feelings have not gone away. It also makes me a nice person, I look for the good in everybody – trouble is sometimes I’m easily let down.
3) I am learning to speak Spanish – not so weird you might think. But it probably is, because I can speak holiday Spanish with no problem, present tense conversations, food orders etc. ……. I am actually studying the language all tenses, past, preterit, future, et al. It is fascinating and I have worked so hard at it over the past four years that I don’t want to stop. I doubt I’ll ever use it all but hey it keeps my brain active!
4) I have a greyhound living in my home, my daughters so I guess that makes me a Grand-mama! And weirder than that she has her own website at www.mygreyhound .me.uk
5) I love to dance on an empty dance floor – can’t help it I like to have the space – and it irritates when it all fills up and gets cramped.
6) I dye my hair deep red at the back and strawberry blonde at the front – weird? probably but its better than gray.
7) My idea of a chilled out day is spent in my kitchen converting piles of ingredients into tasty dishes for friends, freezer or just to eat!
The seven people I would like to share this with are:Keiron I probably know most of them but you’ve been living away from home for years now. Grandad, because I would like to know some more weird things about him. K8, just to see if any of them wore off on her. Moon – how weird are you? And Coastal Aussie- go on confess… Next English Mum another greyhound friend, and last but by no means least Jefferson Davis over there in America.
Apologies to everyone I tried linking but it just didn’t work!!!!!

I resolved never to do this one again, but you asked so nicely 🙂
Go on, then. I might be a while and I can’t do forward links otherwise I’ll be shot, but I spose there’s no denying that this meme will NEVER die.
Grandad likens this meme to an itchy scrotum… I, to a car alarm.

Grandad – Thank you – can’t wait!!
K8 – That wasn’t a bad creasing really – sorry I’m new to these things but this one looked fun!!!
EM – Go for it!! x
Interesting facts , Kate. And you’re so brave to dance by yourself – go you ! I’m also so impressed by your language skills. Well done, I wish I was like you. Now, I’ve done my best to answer your tag…I hope you enjoy it ! And thanks again for thinking of me. 🙂

I’ve had a busy week and now company, so it’s taken me longer than usual to get around my blogging friends – sorry for the delay!
Oooh – you’re more interesting even than I thought! And you’ve cleared up something that was puzzling me. I thought you and ‘My Greyhound’ were the same person!! Are you both called Kate, or have I got that completely mangled? LOL!
A hippie – yes, me too though I was a little young to get fully into it. I do know I spent one entire spring and summer and early autumn barefoot except when I had to go to school! I still have the beads … Oh happy days!
I’m completely disorganised, too, but without your reasons. My goodness you’ve been through the wringer, haven’t you? I hope your son is now OK, your partner, too. And what on EARTH happened to your foot, that lasted two years? How alarming!
I’m impressed with the Spanish. I’ve tried learning a language several times but not got very far. Must try again some day.
Mmm… red at the back, blonde at the front… that might work for me the other way round. Blonde makes my face look horribly red, and my current dark red shade tones that down nicely. But I could have the blonde at the back!! Actually, I’m thinking purple or light red streaks in the dark violet/red for next time.
Sorry Jay,
This came while I was away and my addled brain forgot about it until now!!
The greyhound site is me! I meant that Hippie has her own site – so you were right!!!
Its good to find another Hippy – I don’t think it ever goes away – its in the mind!!!
My son continues to be all clear after an op and chemo but they will check him for another couple of years.
My partner still has a problem with his eyes – moreso when he’s tired – the stroke affected the optic nerve, but other than that he’s fine now.
My foot? What a nightmare that was – its called plantar fasciitis which is inflammation of the long muscle under the foot. It was a really bad time and although I had crutches I am disabled in both wrists and couldn’t use them for long. My consultant wanted to operate but results were not good so I refused and spent time trying to deal with it my own way. Its much better now but I long to wear all those stilleto heels gathering dust in my wardrobe. Maybe one day!!!!
Oh honey, you sound like just my kind of weird! That planter fasciitis is something I’m going to research right now: after the first day of walking around Disneyworld, my right foot goes on strike. I thought for a long time it was because of weight, but the last two times I went, I had lost TONS of weight (Gained most of it back now. Sigh.) and still had just as much problem with that foot. And it FEELS like that long muscle. Thanks for the tip!
Hi Ethelmaepotter
I think weird people should stick together!!
The damage to my foot hurt the most in my heel – almost as if I had trod on a sharp stone – and in the early days I was unable to put my heel to the floor.
Try some hot and cold therapy after your walks – ice then warm – to liven up the blood vessels!!!
