The tree is trimmed, there are fairylights everywhere…
In the lounge..
In my bedroom window..
Even a snowy village scene in the dining room..
The cards are arriving…
my Christmas Cactus that I resurrected from the near death experience it had when I forgot to water it and its leaves turned paper thin and fell off, is now…. flowering!!!!!
It was all going so well until yesterday when the Ghost of Christmas Past paid a visit.
Five years ago to the day – my Stoves fan oven died and yesterday so did its Baumatic replacement….
And having weighed up the cost of a call out plus parts against a new one – I have decided to buy a new one – after all I’ve got mince pies to make!!!!!
I’m beginning to feel a tad ashamed ……… I’ve done nothing ………
Daddy P – there’s still time – you too could break your oven just before you need to fill it with turkey!!!!
Santa will be very chuffed when he squeezes down the chimney and sees your splendid Christmas decorations. He might even leave you a few extra presents in appreciation. Our own decorations are modest but tasteful. I draw the line at the awful plastic icicles draped from some of the nieghbouring houses.
Hey Kate – Remember when you asked me if I had any photos of the storm that came through my area? Well, if you take yourself over here I left you a present.
Note: If the link comes through all messed up just head over to the blog and look for a post dedicated to you. 🙂
oh look at you nigella lawson in the making. Christmas cakes and all your decerations put up and all. God your so lucky. I am putting up mine tomorrow i promise. I have to say the one thing i like about christmas is eating all my favorite foods and not having to say sorry to anyone for putting on the extra few pounds. i espcially love eating my little cabbages brussel sprouts i just love them so much, I am also looking forward to playing santa to a very special little man, hes getting a bandna coller a new lead some toys and a few other little surprises. hes been very good though bless. I hope you and hippy max and the whole family have a great christmas and a wonderful new year hope everything goes well for you in 2010.
Oh no! I had an oven fail on Christmas Eve once, and bless him, our faithful ‘domestic appliances’ repair man came out and fixed it!
Love the fairy lights – and the village. That’s so pretty!
Ooh those lights are fab! And lucky you getting a new oven – expensive business, though, I should imagine. xx
Nick – Welcome, I’m afraid Santa has no chimney here – thats another thing that has either fallen down, blown up or simply stopped working since I moved here, but at least I still have my Christmas tree – some of its decorations are 100 years old now, and an abundance of fairy lights,
lava lamps and glitter lamps – I love them all….. don’t have any icicles though!!!!!
Vicky – thank you so much!!! I hope you and yours have a lovely time!!
Jay – The oven arrived this morning – but further problems came with it – I need an electrician!!! The village was my Mum’s when she was in the home…. she loved to see it twinkling at night… it is really pretty…
English Mum – Very expensive I’m afraid but I do love to cook so its all worthwhile! x
I like the lighted village scene and it is amazing how the Christmas Cactus revives even when neglected.
It is lovely isn’t it Barbara – and the plant is now full of flowers – guess who is going to be really looking after it this year?
