There are some little shops at the Marina where I am working and this one is really lovely.
As the title suggests it sells hand made dolls houses but not for children ? these are definitely for grown ups!!!
Chris, the owner of this business has a workshop where he creates these beautiful houses, some with brick facia and some without ? they are truly amazing and without the modern influence really take you on a trip to times gone by.
hand finished and beautifully furnished ? this house is lovely
I think they have the look of one of our stately homes in miniature, exquisitely decorated and furnished.
with a choice of bathroom suite
and bedroom accessories ? its all there
This is a finished dolls house from the outside ? and below is one under construction
each of those bricks has been placed by hand ? true craftsmanship.
I thought they were lovely ? what do you think?
I love doll’s houses but have never owned one. Oh yes, I’m very much in touch with my feminine side. Mind you I’m rubbish at making the bed, a tiny one would be a nightmare.
I love them.
You have prompted me to write a post about the dolls house I had many, many moons ago!
I think they’re gorgeous!! Just beautiful. I had a smashing dolls house when I was young, which my Dad made for me. He made a lovely job of it and even installed lighting which I could turn on with a switch in the loft. Stuck down felt carpets, wallpaper, pictures on the wall which he’d made himself – he made the furniture from balsa wood, too, and stained it mahogany.
I wish I still had it, but in a rare moment of self-sacrifice I gave it to our local vicar who fostered children.
Reminds me of the Tale of Two Bad Mice by Beatrix Potter, you know the ones that ravage the dolls house. Not my cup of tea but I can appreciate the work in them. I wonder who buys them?
I wish that I had grand daughter/s. I would buy the whole lot.
I found a doll house at a garage sale, and am in the process of renovating it. I have decided that I want to make it look like a gingerbread house. It’s a slow process, but the making of it is the fun part!

What a lovely project – good luck!!!!
Hi Helen, with me it was The Borrowers – I always liked the idea of tiny people living in my dolls house!!!
oh Jay – this shop has swatches of wallpaper and carpets so that you can choose your decor – maybe you should get another one!!
Grannymar – your dolls house sounds wonderful – what a shame you have no photos!
Good to know you appreciate these houses Daddy P – maybe one of these instead of a boat then?
