Well, I am amazed and really pleased to say that when I started to dismantle my cooker hood this morning and was working my way around the grease and grime near to the motor, I must have disturbed something, because, suddenly it all switched on!!!
Further inspection proves that all that is needed is a micro switch – around £1 from an electronics store!!!
Panic over – even my credit card is smiling!!!
The photos, I hope, will explain to my Canadian friend what I was writing about – or maybe not!
Always hit things with hammers if they stop working …. that’s what the TG does …… *ouch*

mmm. tried that in the bathroom once…..and the wall fell down! Another mad moment in this house!
The picture says it all. The equipment looks as if it is part of the cupboards, which is a nice approach. Over here, the fans look like fans, and stick out of the wall like the tongue of a petulant child. Glad to hear you got it working, DIY is soooooo hard!

Tell me about it! But the switch has just been fitted so I have an extractor AND pretty lights now!…..So – what do you call the top part of your cooker – where the pans sit?
Straightforward actually. We call them stoves, so the top is the stovetop.

Ah – that makes sense – now just to confuse you more – my hob is made by a company called Stoves they make very expensive cookers (or stoves) thats why when I replaced the cooker I chose a Baumatic they do the same job for a fraction of the price.
